The Water Restoration Monitoring Process

A Proactive Approach to Monitoring the Water Restoration Project

A very important part of any water restoration project is the continued monitoring of the equipment, situation, and personnel involved. A high-quality water damage restoration company will have diligent monitoring throughout the project, but even more importantly, will take a proactive approach rather than a reactionary one.

If a team is simply reacting to events that occur within a water cleanup project, there is a lower level of efficiency and greater cost to the consumer. A proactive approach to monitoring means a high amount of preparation and experience, ensuring a process that is responsive toward any problems that may arise.

Asking for references and reading client testimonials is a great idea in order to find out if a water restoration company takes a serious, active approach to their monitoring process. You can also ask your company their attitude towards monitoring and how they respond to difficulties along the way. Furthermore, there are a few questions you can ask while the water damage project is in process, because these questions should be in the mind of your restoration company at all times.

Water Restoration

Proper equipment setup is the first step in the monitoring process of water restoration projects.

Is the Drying Equipment Set up Properly?

This is an incredibly important question for your restoration company, because it is the key to how quickly or effectively the project will be completed. Improper setup of the drying equipment would be a major blow to the effectiveness of the restoration effort. Monitoring of the equipment set up should be thorough and continuous, ensuring nothing interferes with the restoration procedures.

Does the Team have the Ability to Adjust Equipment Placement and Conduct New Techniques?

Even with the most experienced restoration manager, a water cleanup project will not go smoothly if the personnel are not trained properly. All water restoration companies must have rigorous training programs for their employees in order to ensure the safety and efficiency of the process. A good way to identify a well-trained team is IICRC certification, which requires all restoration companies to have excellent and up to date training regiments.

Is the Drying Equipment Maintained Properly?

This goes along with the idea of proper equipment set up, but even the best setup will not be effective without proper maintenance. The best water restoration companies will ensure that all equipment is in perfect working order for maximum performance. Furthermore, they will be able to explain how and why their water damage gear is maintained, showing an interest in the care of their equipment.
