San Diego Emergency Water Damage Cleanup
When you are faced with a flood situation, the first thing to do is to make sure people and pets are safe. The next thing to do is to “mitigate the damages”. Most homeowner insurance policies have a section called the Mitigation Clause. This clause specifies (see your insurance policy for details pertaining to your home) that the homeowner must stop, control, and minimize losses. This must be done without unnecessary delays and done in good faith. San Diego Flood Restoration can help you control the emergency situation and then we can give you a comprehensive, written proposal for all recommended work to be done. We want to be your San Diego Water Emergency Water Damage cleanup crew!
Water Damage
This image shows the water damaged caused by a sink over-flow. Sink, shower, or tub overflow is not a very serious situation because the water is effectively clean. This is an example of a Category 1 Loss and more than half of the water loss claims are of this type. Such a flood can still cause damage if it is not resolved quickly. The longer the water soaks into your home and belongings, the longer it will take to dry out.
Water Intrusion
This image shows damage caused by a fallen tree. In addition to physical damage to the roof, the home also incurred water damage from a roof leak. Water damage of this kind and those caused by dirty water from a washing machine or dishwasher are called Category 2 Loss. The flood water is not potable (clean enough to drink) nor is it from the sewage system. Such a loss requires more attention than that of Category 1 Fresh Water Loss because the water may have Elevated Microbial Loads (more bacteria and germs).
Toilet Back-Flow
The most serious types of water damage are due to floods caused by sewage back-flow from a toilet or main sewage line. City sewage systems carry many harmful germ including viruses and parasites. This type of water loss is referred to as Category 3 Loss and should be controlled immediately by an IICRC Certified Firm.
